About This Site

Car Gadgets Spot is one man testing car gear on his own money and his own miles. Everything here gets used in a 2016 SUV with cloth seats, no CarPlay and a lot of highway behind it, then written up after months rather than after a weekend. We cover jump starters, dash cams, phone mounts, portable CarPlay and Android Auto screens, and cordless tire inflators. If something is fine but overpriced, or if the cheap one is the right call, that is what the review says.

Vehicle Safety

Anything on this site that plugs into a 12V socket, clips to a vent, or holds a lithium battery carries real risk. Lithium jump starters and battery packs should never be left in a car that bakes in the sun, and a swollen or hot pack is a fire hazard, not a warranty question. Charge them indoors and store them where a failure would not spread.

Mounts and screens must stay out of the airbag deployment zone on the dashboard and away from the driver's sightline. A device suction-cupped to the middle of the windshield is both a visibility problem and, in many states, a ticket. Nothing on this site should be operated while the vehicle is moving.

Tire inflators are easy to over-inflate with. Go by the pressure on the sticker inside the driver's door, not the number molded into the tire sidewall, and check it with a separate gauge when the tires are cold.

Work involving the battery, the wiring, or the fuse box belongs to the vehicle's own service manual and, when in doubt, to a mechanic. This site is one driver's experience, not professional automotive advice.
